The Orr family have been involved in showing dogs since 1972 and throughout the years we have produced and shown many champion Dalmatians, Boxers and more recently Beagles. We are all members of the Australian National Kennel Council and secretaries or committee of various clubs.
Kestrel is a third generation exhibitor taking after both her parents and grand parents. Growing up as a child, Kestrel has exhibited Dalmatians, Beagles, Chinese Crested, Boxers, Collies, Bernese Mountain Dog, Tibetan Terriers, Irish Setters, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, and many other breeds. Her junior handlers dog was a Keeshond.
Kestrel developed an interest in Beagles from a young age having helped Barbra Watson of Kramner Beagles with her dogs. The first beagle to be introduced into the family was in the year 2000, a bitch from Norma Shipley at Filnor Kennels. This bitch, Khea (Aust Ch Filnor Leica) was the foundation for the future - she had only the one litter in her lifetime and produced show champions however we were never able to have a litter from her children.
In 2015 after a short break from showing due to study, we welcomed Bee (Houndbrook Bumble Bee) to our home and she has become our newest foundation from the future and has proved herself to be a producing dam with several show prospects in the ring as well as a loving temperament and the best friend a person could want in their home.
These days, you will see Kestrel exhibiting in the rings around Melbourne and sometimes interstate with her Beagles. Together with her partner Jason they also own and exhibit Gordon Setters under the "Settmore" prefix as well as exhibiting Old English Sheepdogs under the "Perfu" prefix.
